The last few day we had some ups and downs. After a very rainy day on Thursday we decided not to travel, I spent the day learning how to edit videos. which should be coming soon. We walked to the beach once the rain stopped then had some pasta salad for dinner.
On Friday we left Holden Beach around 7:00 AM and traveled about 50 miles through Myrtle Beach, this stretch of the ICW had a lot of shallow areas , the inlets were shoaled as low as 2 ft, so we timed the crossing just perfectly with the tide since we draft over 5 ft. We did fight the current the last 3 hours of the day though, it feels as if we driving the boat up a hill.
The worst part of day 24 was the AIS shorted out and no longer works, I spent the night rewiring things and tearing apart the unit. It is disappointing that it broke, we do not need it for the trip, but it is good for safety, so now i debating on whether to get another or see if this one is fixable.
Day 25- we left the our nice peaceful anchorage in the upper Waccame River and headed to Georgetown, there was a lot of floating trees and plants we had to dodge, but the views of the scenery made up for it. That river is absolutley beautiful, except the water was very dark, due to decaying leaves. I believe the rivers nickname is the Black river. We had several other sailboats pass us along the way. Once in Georgetown we anchored near the town, made some pizza and relaxed. Our plan is to anchor 2 more nights then we should be in Charlestown, where we plan on staying for 4 days, maybe some marina nights too.
