Day 32- We made it to Beaufort, SC

It has been an exciting 24 hours, we had some very bad thunderstorms roll through last night, one of which put us aground. We were just getting to bed and the winds picked up, we felt the boat shaking and whipping around, until it came to a forceful stop. We were anchored in what the chart said was 15 feet. We ended up in 2.9 feet. Our boat drafts 5 foot 4. So we went in to panic mode, knowing we are at low tide, worse case scenario was wait 6 hours for the boat to float off the shoal. But at the moment we just wanted to be floating. Back to the storm, It swung the boat around into an uncharted shoal, and as it was raging with up to 50 mph gusts we were completely heeled over with spray coming over the sides. We endured that for 20 minutes, but it felt like hours, After the storm passed the waters calmed and slowly returned, I went up and started to pull anchor to winch our selves off the mud shoal., It worked and we were off, then we found some deeper water and re anchored.

The following morning we left ASAP, we started motoring around 7:15 AM , we traveled through a few very shallow cuts in the ICW, then up a large river, ultimately getting to Beaufort, SC. We are anchored for a day or two, planning on some exploring before heading to Hilton Head , SC
